Apple have files a patent for a stylus that works in mid air.
The stylus does not have to be pressed against a surface.
It works by having on-board motion detectors. The pen then outputs the written or drawn image to any screen to which it is connected. This could be in the locality of the pen or could be on the other side of the world.
The applications of this could be huge.
if you wanted to take a message or write a memo – you would no longer have to open or get near a device. You could simply pull out the pen and write.
Would also be great or exhibitions and events and would be great for speakers at conferences. No longer would speakers be tied to lecterns, laptops or projectors.
